Argentine Tango

Whether you are new to Tango or a seasoned dancer, this is your chance to try something new, energizing and fun! Join a progressive six-week series in Argentine Tango. Whether you’re interested in learning a new hobby, developing new skills, or being part of a friendly community - we think you’ll find what you’re looking for!

7:30 - 8:00 Practice 8:00 - 9:00 Level Up Tango for skill and musicality refinement

Classes are taught in the MindSpring building 966 Tunnel Road, Asheville NC 28805

Our classes focus on kind and constructive guidance to help you quickly gain fundamental proficiency so that you can enjoy having fun on the dance floor. Social style tango - rather than performance style - is a lead-and-follow walking dance and is creatively improvised based on the music, space, and your partner. The class will use traditional Buenos Aires tango music.

Pricing & Discounts

$72 for the series. Students to the Intro to Argentine Tango classes are encouraged to sign up for and participate in the whole series to more quickly build confidence with the dance and connections with other dancers. Level-Up students may drop in for $15/class. Level-Up students may attend the intro class for no additional fee.

Couples registering as a leader and a follower pay $58 per person for the series.

Instructors:

Barbara Durr has been teaching tango for more than 25 years and has taught across the US.

Leanna Joyner has taught other styles of dance for 15 years, is a yoga teacher, and has been teaching tango alongside Barbara since 2024.

Please wear leather-soled shoes, suede-soled shoes, or heavy socks to more easily pivot. Please do not wear any shoe style that has an open back, such as a clog or a flip-flop.
